Stained Concrete
This is what the entrance to this house looked like when we walked up in
the morning. Notice the rust stains and gray mottling from being burnished
while troweling? Accent is everything when making a statement to the
entrance of your home, here plants are used to help make it inviting.
We can even make unsafe steps a little bit safer by adding contrast.
Here is the same entrance in the afternoon of the same day. This
concrete is over ten years old and it looks new again. With a little
decorative sawcutting and staining we can transform the ordinary into
the extraordinary. We can also cut shapes and designs to achieve that
look you are searching for, such as: compass roses, suns etc...
Here is the patio of the same house. We are able to lift most stains and what
we cannot lift we can blend in.
If you are looking for a less expensive alternative to stamped concrete and
don't know what to do, this is your answer. For a fraction of the cost of
removing your patio or driveway and installing new, we can change the entire
look of your home or business.
From the elegant to the whimsical, we can help. This family wanted
a play area for their children that could only be described as where
Dr. Suess meets The Wizard of Oz. With the product lines that we
carry, we have the colors that you are looking for.
This existing concrete is almost twenty years old. This is a cross that we cut into the
entrance to St. Stephen School in Waterford, MI. Notice how the decorative sawcuts
are stained to achieve depth. Attention to detail is what we are all about.

Acid Staining - Before & After
Here is a job that another contractor did. This patio is
about six years old, the coloring was never finished,
nor was it ever sealed properly. The homeowner had
an unqualified person seal it with a penetrating sealer
about three years ago and it has not been touched
since.
After painstaking cleaning, stripping, cleaning again and
then acid staining, we were finally able to seal it properly.
Notice how we even stained and sealed the retaining
wall so that everything blends together? Your stamped
patio when properly installed and maintained will give
you many years of enjoyment and compliments.
Revitalize Your Existing Stamped Patio Or Driveway
This homeowner called me up after beginning a renovation project on her existing rear patio. She installed a nice pond and then
began covering the concrete with pavers. It was going to be difficult to have a nice finished edge with pavers so we took over.
We removed all the excess glue and mortar, then ground the entire patio to a nice even finish. After thoroughly cleaning the
patio we acid stained with a terra cota base and ebony border then sealed with a high quality acrylic sealer. If you have existing
concrete and would like an alternative to replacement then give us a call, and our design team will create a look just for your
home.

We removed a three foot wide plain concrete walk from this home then installed this stained front sitting area. The step on
the porch is new and is critical in creating expanse to this welcoming entrance. If you look closely to the photo on the left,
you will notice how the dark brown center stripe becomes the main color at the end of the walk at the driveway. This
homeowner has a great decorating flair and vision for a completed project, together we came up with a truly unique and
inviting entrance that will always be in style.
This is the before and after pictures of the entrance to this home. We removed all the existing landscaping
and turned this tunnel like entrance into a flowing and inviting walk. We worked hand in hand with the
homeowner to come up with this design and color selection.
This homeowner wanted a bright clean look in her art studio. We started by grinding the existing concrete basement
floor to make a smooth uniform surface. We then "V" cut a three foot diamond pattern to add character and then
painstakingly cleaned the surface. After applying the base coat of concrete dye, we accented with the light brown color
that you see in the closeup on the right. We applied three coats of sealer and seven coats of wax for a protective
barrier.
We worked hand in hand with this homeowner to install this faux finish. This job utilized all the steps from the previous
photo's and included a seven step faux system to achieve the look you see above. This basement finish will last for many
years with minimal care. Why carpet or tile when you can have a look all your own that will never go out of style.

THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF WHAT CAN BE
ACCOMPLISHED WITH A LITTLE CREATIVITY AND SKILL ON
EXISTING CONCRETE. THIS PATIO HELD 3/4" OF WATER
NEAR THE CORNER BY THE STEP. I DEVELOPED THIS
PATTERN IN ORDER TO DRAIN THE WATER WITHOUT THE
CASUAL OBSERVER KNOWING THAT. ON THE FAR END,
THERE WAS A RECTANGULAR HOLE FOR ACCESS TO THE
OLD SEPTIC TANK. I SAWCUT THE HOLE INTO AN
OCTAGON SHAPE AND FILLED IN THE FACE OF THE PATIO
TO ACHIEVE A PLANTING AREA THAT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS
DESIGNED INTO THE PATIO. THE SIMPLE BORDER ON THE
WALK MAKES AN INVITING ENTRANCE TO THE PATIO AND
EMPHASIZES THE FLOW OF THE WALK. LASTLY, WE
POURED A STAMPED STEP AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE
PATIO TO ADD A TOUCH OF ELEGANCE.

IN THE SITTING ROOM TO THIS HOME WE HAD TO POUR CONCRETE INTO HOLES INTO THE FLOOR, THEN APPLY AN
UNDERLAYMENT TO LEVEL OUT THE EXISTING SLAB FLOOR. WE ALSO HAD TO SLOPE THE FLOOR UP AT EVERY DOORWAY TO
BLEND IN ALL OF THE DIFFERENT GRADES. WE THEN INSTALLED AN OVERLAYMENT TO THE AREA AND THEN DYED THE FLOOR
WITH A COFFEE STAIN WITH MISSION BROWN ACCENTS. LASTLY WE APPLIED TWO COATS OF AN ACRYLIC SEALER THEN FOUR
COATS OF WAX FOR A WEARING COURSE. WE CAN CREATE CUSTOM COLORS THAT ARE RICH AND DEEP, AND HAVE A BEAUTY
ALL OF THEIR OWN.
THE SAME PROCESS THAT WAS USED IN THE ABOVE PHOTO'S
WAS USED ON THIS FLOOR. THE COLOR INSTALLED HERE WAS
MISSION BROWN WITH A MOTTLING AGENT.
If stamped concrete puts you over your budget, you can
still achieve a wonderful look with colored concrete. This
job is 2,400sf of concrete with a swirl finish and
windowpane border. We installed the concrete with a
Chamois integral color and Ebony border. It is critical that
your concrete specialist knows his acid stains very well,
because every stain reacts differently with each integral
base color. Notice how well the color blends with this log
home? The flowing radius of the steps mimic the shape of
the logs to tie everything together.

The homeowner of this job wanted to make a
statement. In our first consultation he had a pretty
good idea of what he wanted. He asked me about
stamped concrete borders heading down from the
original brick pavers and staining a new drive. I told
him that would be to many mediums and should
extend the brick pavers and then stain. We then
acid stained samples for him to choose from and
completed the sawcutting and staining. Two coats
of a 30% solids sealer with anti slip additive
completes the look.
